1: Weapon Advantages
One awesome addition to PvP would be to have special weapons (Daedric, Mythic, etc.) that had a significant advantage over another. Let's even say it's something simple:
Gives Slowness V, but grants Strength III.
Grants Speed III, but gives Weakness IV.
Obviously the bow would have an advantage against the axe, so in pvp, it wouldn't just be a matter of "who has the best weapon", but rather who uses their weapon most effectively.
For instance, a while back when I went into pvp(when it was active at the time), I would be instantly One-Shot by a Power VII bow, no quarter given.
If specific weapons granted you, say, additional resistance when hit by arrows, (Like projectile protection, but on weapons), then players could have enchantments on their armor for close combat, while an item or weapon granted them the buffs necessary to get close enough for melee attacks.
2: Special Items
Now I know the server already has various items with special uses (votekeys, votecrates, socket gems, etc.), but some with wider areas of use would be nice. Like these:
"When thrown, explodes at end of trail."
"Right-Click to dig 10 blocks straight forward in a few seconds"
Cannot be used in another players claim/spawn.
Anyway, these are just some ideas. Flying boats, Minecarts with superspeed, etc. Transportation, pvp, mining, the sky's the limit! Wait, no, the top of the sky is!
3: Armor Changes
Suppose a player in pvp has Mending, Prot. V, Unbreaking III, Thorns III Diamond armor. Well, pvp wouldn't be much fun then. Even if he had virtually no skill in pvp, he would take several minutes to kill by sword.
Even by bow, you wouldn't be able to just go in and fight. So maybe certain high level armor (Daedrics) could have weaknesses.
Fire Protection III
Projectile Protection II
(This is a little extreme, but you get my point.)
Weakness: Shears (Okay, so, shears may not be that great, but if they did 5 times the damage? Woohoo!)
So certain items(Not even weapons necessarily) would deal much higher damage. It could even be randomized so that a dirt block or a piece of clay dealt extra damage. And if the weakness was bows/swords/axes... Well, tough cookies.
Anyway, these are just suggestions. I look forward to seeing what the server has in store for the future!
...isn't that what Sockets are for?...
I know sockets already take some of the various effects, but there could be additional sockets that give more specialized abilities. Plus, these were my ideas on how pvp could be leveled out, not how weapons could be more powerful. Anyway, these are just some ideas I came up with and wanted to share.
There is already a suggestion thread for mythic items, just to inform those that might not know.
I'll be sure to check it out.
